The Nytimes has released a recent article about the new art market place. Many people have heard about crypto currencies or the third internet. In a world where people think that art is a dead career U am happy to bring this information to the art community.
Fort those of you who are not familiar with NFT's
"An NFT — a nonfungible token — is nothing more than a certificate of ownership and authenticity that can be attached to any kind of object, even a sneaker or newspaper article, and that can’t be changed or lost because it lives on a blockchain". ( Gopnik, 2022)
People are now selling and buying art with these NFT's and surprisingly some artists are making millions. Before you think that this is some quick cash to make I must tell you this. You must be an established artist to enter these NFT platforms. To avoid overcrowding and random art content, the platforms are very diligent about who they let into the platform. So, make sure you have multiple art platforms and have created art content.
Other than that, I think all artists should be educating themselves about this new and exciting market. It is important to hop in the wave before the market becomes oversaturated. I encourage new artists to read the terms and conditions of the platform of their choice and learn about the legal right your buyers have of your work. I want to wish you all happy and peaceful art making !
