Oil painting can be very intimidating for many. It nothing like water color or acrylic paint. It requires it own material and tools to tools to work with oil paint so here is by beginners guide in painting with oil paint.
The first thing you are going to need is high quality brushes. Since oil paint is a lot thicker than water color paint , I emphasize that you get thick durable paint brushes when working with oil paint.
Winton oil Colour is the best oil paint to use when you are a beginner oil painter. They are affordable, high quality and very pigmented.
Linseed Oil is an oil paint medium . You mix this oil with the oil paint when you want to dilute it. In simpler term this is the "water" of oil paint. There are other mediums you can use like walnut oi and Turpentine , but I prefer linseed oil because it is non-toxic.
Paint thinner is self explanatory . This thins oil paint to make it more watery , or to clean your brushes in between your colors. Remember that oil and water don't mix so a paint thinner is absolutely necessary ! I would suggest a paint thinner that is odorless if you are painting inside but any one will due if the smell is not a problem for you .
