Many platforms will help you sell and market your art, so I condensed each of them into one place. Here I will list the pros and cons of each platform and hopefully, you will find a platform that meets your art needs.
Shopify
Shopify is really popular in the art community. They are known for allowing their artist to sell their prints and real painting in the form of a website. You are allowed to design your store with their website customization. They also provide a guide for artists to sell their art, market it, and how to set their shipping prices. This platform also allows you to sell digital files of your work. Now that we have stated all the good, Let's take a look at the cons of selling your art on Shopify. Some Artists find that Shopify can be a little pricey if you are a beginner artist. Their monthly prices can range from $29 a month to $299 but don't have a transaction fee.
Etsy
Etsy is known for being a marketplace for artsy products making it a very convenient place to sell your art and art prints. Etsy is a very easy and convenient way to start selling your art. The platform already sets your products into a shop meaning you do not have to design a website from scratch. There are fees every time you upload a new
product, but it is only .20 cents. The Cons to Etsy are that it is constantly changing and you will most likely have to adapt your business to the new changes. Because Etsy is so cheap, there is a lot of competition and you'll need to build a unique business strategy to be successful on the platform.
Wix Website
The Wix website is my personal favorite. It gives you the freedom of designing your own website to match your company's brand. You can buy your own website domain, giving you access to the company's analytics and google advertisements. Wix has a lot of built-in apps that will help you personalize your websites like a Wix store, Wix blog, and Wix counters. I think overall Wix is the one that looks the most professional and professional sells! The cons of Wix is that it is very very pricey. Having a website domain can range from $14-$500 a month and this can be very expensive for someone who is just starting their art business.
Overall everyone has their own path and business preferences. Some people are not tech-savvy and would just prefer a simple platform like Etsy. Others prefer customizing their content to match their brand's aesthetic like Shopify or Wix. Whatever your business vision is I hope I helped you get one step closer to achieving them.
